Since it was first founded in the 1970’s the business has grown into one of the most successful manufacturers of building products and consumer packaging supply in the UK and Ireland.
The business was founded in 1973 in Derrylin, Northern Ireland and traded in quarry aggregates then developed its product range to include readymixed concrete and manufactured its own concrete blocks.
Big move into Cement Market
With this successful base as its foundation, the company quickly enjoyed wider national success and in the 1980’s saw the establishment of a rooftile factory, a precast concrete factory and a 0.5 million tonnes per annum cement works.
First Aircrete plant in Ireland
The 1990’s saw further expansion with additional operations comprising Quinn Lite Pac, manufacturing polystyrene insulation products; Quinn Tarmac, a bituminous tar manufacturing plant and Quinn Lite; an aircrete block manufacturing plant.
Major Investment in PIR Plant
In 2000 the business opened its second cement works in Ballyconnell, County Cavan. Quinn had taken its success across the boarder and now operated in both Northern and Southern Ireland. In 2004 the Group commissioned the building of a new factory on Ballyconnell to manufacture and distribute PIR insulation. Today this plant is one of the largest manufacturer of PIR insulation in the UK and Ireland.
QIH formed to acquire Building products & Packaging
In 2014 Quinn Industrial Holdings was formed to aquire two of the key divisions within the Group; Quinn Building Products Limited and Quinn Packaging Limited. Quinn Building Products encompasses all of the core building material operations within the Group.
Quinn Industrial Holdings (QIH) acquired the Construction Industry Supply (CIS) and Packaging businesses of the former Quinn Group from Aventas in December 2014. QIH is majority owned by three substantial US based private equity funds who together manage in excess of $60bn of funds.

Les is a seasoned non-executive director with 10 years of experience in institutional and management owned businesses. He is currently Chairman of The Bollington Wilson Group, Insurance Brokers.
His extensive executive career included over 20 years operating at CEO level. He has worked across a multitude of industries including: house-building, financial, information & business services, manufacturing, publishing and travel.
He started his career in major corporations and has worked for Unilever, Grand Met (Diageo), Granada Group (ITV) and NewsCorp. Les was appointed to the Board in April 2017.
John is MD of Newtowngore Engineering, a Fine Gael Councillor and former Chairman of Leitrim County Council. He sits on the Council’s Economic & Planning Special Purpose and Audit Committees.
He is a former member of the Border Regional Authority and Director of Leitrim Enterprise Board. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) where he sits on the Audit, the Finance & Resource and the Strategic & Planning Committees.
He is a Director of the Cornmill Arts Centre. Along with John Bosco O’Hagan and Ernie Fisher, he is a founding director of QBRC Ltd.

During his time in this role Liam led the Group through many significant developments such as the building and launch of a second cement factory and two new glass factories, in Derrylin and Cheshire.
Liam took up his current role as Chief Executive of Quinn Industrial Holdings in December 2014 and his drive, enthusiasm and commitment to customers, along with his proven ability to build and lead strong strategic management teams, brings significant value to all of its stakeholders.
After three years with Quinn in the commercial team, Lee was promoted to lead the management and development of core products within the Quinn Building Products portfolio across the whole of the GB Market.
His experience working with merchants and contractors also helps the Company continue to grow its client base on a national level.
A qualified Electrical Engineer, Kevin joined the business in 1995 having been previously employed by Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).
Kevin was then appointed as General Manager of the then newly established Quinn Direct Insurance and oversaw the expansion of that business until 2005 before being appointed as Group Development Director with responsibility for a number of areas including waste management and renewable energy projects and the Group’s property portfolio.
Kevin took up his current role as Operations Director in 2014.

Paddy was instrumental in the successful penetration of the Cement market from a standing start in 1989. Paddy’s role further extended with the acquisition of Barlo Group plc in 2004 which saw him take responsibility for the UK and Irish sales of radiators. Paddy took up his current role in 2014.
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dara worked with Aer Lingus, the Irish National Airline, before joining the business in 2000 as Financial Controller of the Quinn Hotel and Property division.
Following a time as Group Financial Controller, Dara was appointed Group Finance Director in 2003 with responsibility for the overall financing of the Group. Having left the Group in 2011, Dara returned to his current role when Quinn Industrial Holdings acquired the CIS and Packaging divisions in December 2014.
Dara is also a qualified Chartered Tax Consultant.
